It was an excellent morning for a summer run, humid but not as hot as it has been, and runners benefited from the earlier start this year.

Race Director, Jim Hill, and all the Race Volunteers deserve tremendous credit for staging a quality event for the runners, walkers, and kids who partipated in this year's Turtle Trot.

Before the event, Doug Lane of CrossFit Amelia Island led warmup exercises, and the Yulee Middle School Symphonic Band under the direction of Andy Shepard performed the National Anthem. The band also provided great music to pick up the runners' pace at the finish line!

Volunteer Krissa Arend led dozens of walkers on a 1.5-mile walk, and Kids' Race Directors Carolyn and Bryan Peeples supervised half-mile and one-mile children's fun runs.

Sandra Baker-Hinton Proceeds from the event will benefit sea turtle conservation efforts by Amelia Island Sea Turtle Watch and turtle patrols inside Fort Clinch State Park, and Amelia Island Runners youth running programs.

Fernandina Beach artist Sandra Baker-Hinton, who painted the turtle hatching artwork featured on this year's race t-shirts, autographed shirts at the post-race ceremony after excavating a turtle nest earlier in the morning.

Police Auxiliary It was another record turnout for the Turtle Trot and Amelia Island Runners thanks all of the runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors and spectators who took part.

Special thanks to the Fernandina Beach Police Department and Police Auxiliary, the Fire-Rescue Department and Recreation Department, and Fort Clinch State Park for their great support.

We hope everyone had a great time! Here are the 5K results and 10K results.
