Girls and boys from Nassau County's four high school cross country programs met for the annual county championship run Oct. 21 in Fernandina Beach. Most of the 5K route heads through the Egans Creek Greenway, but the new course designed by Roy Benson starts and finishes in front of the Atlantic Recreation Center and has a short segment along Jean Lafitte Blvd., making the event much more visible to the public and giving more opportunities for spectators to watch the competition. First, second and third place individual finishers are pictured below: |

Team results were: Girls, 1st Place: FBHS with 26 points, 2nd Place: Hilliard with 53 points, 3rd Place: West Nassau with 58 points. Boys, 1st Place: FBHS with 31 points, 2nd Place: Yulee with 42 points, 3rd Place: West Nassau with 50 points. After the event, the Pirates and Hornets got together for team pictures! |
