It was a perfect day for running and walking as the first Cops and Kids 5K got under way in beautiful Fort Clinch State Park. The event raised money for the Nassau County Sheriff's Department's "Cops and Kids" program, which allows disadvantaged youths in Nassau County to get school supplies and shop for Christmas presents with a sheriff's deputy. Sheriff Tommy Seagraves addressed the field of about 100 runners and walkers and recognized other dignitaries who were on hand to help launch the event, including Congressman Ander Crenshaw and Nassau County Commissioner Stacy Johnson. |

His sister Jessie, who led the Bunny Hop, had another great day and finished second among the women in the Cops & Kids at 20:17. The women's first-place finisher was Sharon Lindburger in 19:10. |
