2010 Ed Gaw Amelia Island Open Water Challenge
May 29, 2010 - Fernandina Beach, Florida

The 10th annual Ed Gaw Amelia Island Open Water Challenge helped to start a beautiful Memorial Day weekend in Fernandina Beach. Scores of swimmers took part in the 1-mile and 5K swims in the open Atlantic. Several of our Amelia Island Runners proved that they're adept at swimming, too - major congratulations to our finishers, Steve Coe, Ken Marker, Sean McGill, Diana Twiggs and Matthew Smith!

The race is presented by the Fernandina Beach Recreation Department and headquartered at Main Beach. The competitors hop a bus to the 1-mile and 5K distance points, then swim back to the finish line at Main Beach.

Here are the results for the 1-mile and 5-kilometer swims, along with some pictures from the event. Congratulations to everyone who took part!
