2010 Katie Ride for Life
April 17, 2010 - Fernandina Beach, Florida.

It was a perfect day for a walk or a bike ride! And hundreds of people took advantage on April 17 in the sixth annual Katie Ride for Life, which now also features a 5K/10K walk. Amelia Island Runners was well represented with our biggest team ever!

AIR members John McBrearty and Rosa Haslip led the 5K/10K walk in Fort Clinch State Park. Rosa did double duty -- she ran the Florida Striders' Run to the Sun 8K in Orange Park earlier in the morning.

Riders and walkers enjoyed the scenic beauty of North Florida, and most important, raised thousands of dollars to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation. The Katie Ride celebrates life and honors the memory of Katie Caples, who died at age 17 from an auto accident but whose decision to be an organ donor saved five other lives.
