2004 MEETING MINUTES

May 19th, 2004 meeting

Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM.
Secretary, Amy Kovalcik and VP Mike Brodie were absent.
Treasurer Steve Devlin gave the Treasurers report
We have an A I Runners account with $485 plus the dues for 4 applications received at the meeting.
Members voted on the 3 outstanding logos by Emilie Pennington.
John McBrearty reported that we are incorporated in the state of Florida as "Amelia Island Runners, Inc." We have a tax ID number from the IRS, 56-2454476. Steve Devlin has completed the forms to file with Fla. Dept of Ag. and Consumer Services, and the RRCA application ready to submit.
It was explained that a large portion of dues collected would be used for membership and Insurance fees.
Deborah Dunham was announced as the Newsletter Editor, and she requested input from the membership.
The Turtle Crawl race in September was discussed and Steve Cross and Paul Coins agreed to be Race Directors for that event.
We will also be assisting two Non-AIR races:
Fleet Feet 5K on Oct. 16th by the Fernandina Little Theater, and the Stein Mart run for Micah's Place 5k on Oct. 2nd. John Tenbroeck will time and process results for both races.
Membership cards were handed out to those present.
Club shirts were discussed, and Jim Cochran volunteered to see what is available locally.

June 16th, 2004 meeting

Meeting called to order at 7:10 PM
Secretary, Amy Kovalcik was absent.
Treasurer Steve Devlin gave the Treasurers report
We have an A I Runners account with $200, after paying membership and Insurance fees, plus the dues for five new applications and an offer from charter member Joe Gerrity to donate left over campaign funds.
John McBrearty reported that we are officially an RRCA Club #1566.  Our events and officers are covered by their insurance underwriter and we are a 501(c) 3, tax exempt, charitable organization.
Deborah Dunham produced the first issue of our Newsletter, RUNNER’S HI.  All of the members present agreed that it is an excellent publication.
The Turtle Trot race in September was discussed and it was agreed to make it both a 5K and a 10K
We will also be assisting two Non-AIR races:
Fleet Feet 5K October 16th by the Fernandina Little Theater.  John Tenbroeck will time and process results for this race
And Stein Mart’s Dignity U Wear Run for Micah’s Place 5k moved to Oct 2nd which conflicts with the Marine Corp ½ Marathon.
Amelia Island Runners will sponsor a 5k Reindeer Run on December 11th to benefit the local Angel Tree project.
The Pirates on the Run 10K is still in the works for Super Bowl weekend.
Members voted to establish another group run from the Atlantic Rec. Center parking lot every Tuesday at 6 PM.

July 21st, 2004 meeting

Meeting called to order at 7:10 PM
Secretary, Amy Kovalcik was absent.
Treasurer Steve Devlin gave the Treasurers report
We have an A I Runners account balance of $660 plus checks for new members.
The Turtle Trot race on September 4th was discussed and a number of members volunteered to work the race.
Fleet Feet 5K October 16th  sponsored  by the Fernandina Little Theater will now become an Amelia Island Runners event.  The theater will solicit sponsors and provide the volunteers awards and refreshments.  We will receive all applications and transmit the data to John Tenbroeck, who will do timing and results.
The Stein Mart’s Dignity U Wear 5k moved to Oct 9th
Amelia Island Runners will sponsor a 5k/10k Reindeer Run on December 11th to benefit the local Angel Tree project.
The Pirates on the Run 10K is not going to be transferred to AIR this year, but we will support it.
The Tuesday and Wednesday group runs are both doing well.

August 20th, 2004 meeting

Meeting called to order at 7:20 PM
Secretary, Amy Kovalcik was absent.
Minutes of the July meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer, Steve Devlin, gave the Treasurers report
We have a balance of $1700
The Turtle Trot race on September 4th was discussed:
Melanie Adams reported on the tee shirts and the artwork by Sandra Baker-Hinton.  Sandra and Digital Village are providing 200 note cards with this art for the race packets.
Fantastic Fudge is providing candy turtles to age group winners.
Race packets will be assembled on Thursday night Sept 2 at 7:00 PM at 1413 N Fletcher Ave.
All the Turtle Trot volunteers need to be at the Atlantic Rec. Center at 6:00 AM Sept 4.
Debroah Dunham talked about the benefits of Girls on the Run and the club voted to sponsor one girl this fall for $120.
The Stein Mart’s Dignity U Wear 5k, on Oct 9th will need our help at the finish line and in compiling the results.
Fleet Feet 5K October 16th  sponsored  by the Fernandina Little Theater is an Amelia Island Runners event.  We will receive all applications and transmit the data to John Tenbroeck, who will do timing and results.

November 17th, 2004 meeting

Meeting Called To Order at 7:00pm
Minutes read by John McBrearty, approved unanimously
Treasurer’s Report distributed and read by John McBrearty,
Comments:  
Each race has made money
Other source of income was contributed by Joe Gerrity from Mayor’s race
Ending Checking Balance is $2,651.13, enough money to buy a Finish Line Clock
Discussion: Clock would be used for Cross Country races for school athletes, competitive club races, and internal club “No frills” races
Price ranges from $700.00 to over $2,000.00.  Tripod stand costs$500.00 extra.  Suggestion to use a swing set for hanging race clock or a sturdy ladder
Decision tabled until John McBrearty can research prices and report
AI Runner’s Club organized training runs/ Date and Times
Marilyn reported Ladies Tuesday night track runs are successful, Every Tuesday 5pm - Come join us!
John reported Men’s Wednesday night did not work well trying to change time,
School lights will be turned on at low cost to the club in about 2 weeks
