January 19th, 2005 meeting

Meeting was called to order by Mike Brodie at 7:00 p.m.

David Caples distributed information about the Katie Ride for Life, a donor awareness bicycling event, on Sunday, April 17, 2005.  The Katie Ride for Life cycling event will start in Jacksonville (Ponte Vedra to St. Augustine).  The one-day ride will feature a 100km route for advanced cyclist and a 60km or 30km ride for recreational cyclist.  They encourage teams or individual participation.  There is a $100.00 minimum pledge to participate in this event.  Volunteers are also needed.  Anyone interested can go to www.katierideforlife.org for more information or contact Jonathan Tomassetti regarding training rides.

Jonathan Tomassetti distributed a comparison of running to cycling chart explaining how cycling distances compare to running distances and a schedule of training rides. Jonathan showed examples of the equipment needed for cycling.   Cycling and safety issues were also addressed.

Mike Brodie suggested information about Katie Ride for Life be included in the Pirates on the Run packets.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:57 p.m.

February 16th, 2005 meeting

MINUTES

 Meeting was called to order by John McBrearty at 7:10 p.m.

 Minutes of the January meeting were approved as published to the membership.
Under old business Mr.McBrearty announced that the race clock, with tripod and 
carry case, had been purchased and should be delivered soon.
We also aquired a banner with AMELIA ISLAND RUNNERS in blue on gold for the 
upcoming Special Olympics Tourch Run on Feb. 18.  Used trophies were turned in 
by several members to be recycled by Special Olympics.
The "Step Up Florida" flag run sponsored by the Fla Dept. of Health was well 
supported by Amelia Island runners: Ed Hardee, Bill Pennington, Caroline Fanelli 
and John McBrearty.  We transfered the flag to Duval County across the Crady 
Bridge.  

 Steve Devlin passed out copies of the latest Treasurer's report.  Steve went 
over the report in detail.  The botom line is that we have a balance of $1033.03 
even after paying for our RRCA dues and insurance and the race clock.

will need $100 in donations, but ounce you are registered on line on active.com 
it is easy for relatives and friends to contribute in your name.
Steve Devlin reported on his efforts to support the FBHS Track Team distance 
runners and coach Ed Brown.

 Caroline Peeples suggested we participate in the Health Fair at the Amelia 
Plantation next year as a way to sign up new members.
Members were reminded of the River Run Training every Sat at 8:00 AM at FBHS.

April 20th, 2005 meeting

Bill Pennington gave report on Fleet Feet Run
Family Event brought in over 120 runners,
Tie Dying shirts a big success

Overall Response was very positive
Improvements for next year already in the works

Jill Staples gave report on Katie Ride for Life
AIR team raised more than $1,300.00 for event
Great event, total of 8 cyclists represented AIR club
Next year David Caples is trying to have event in FB

Volunteer needed to organize guest speaker for AIR club meetings

New idea:
Bill Pennington suggested we organize fun, light hearted events to fund raise and promote our club. i.e. beach team relays, nothing competitive.

Discussion took place on methods to handle our own timing and race results for the future.
