Lights at FBHS Track – Daylight Saving Time ends the first Sunday in November, so our weekly group runs will need to change location or move to an earlier start time. The club has requested use of the lights at the FBHS track one night a week during November, December and January for our weekly runs. The school administration is working on a schedule for us that would not conflict with high school and junior high soccer games. Club members will be notified by email about the times and locations of our weekly runs. Ed reported that Carolyn Peeples had been working to provide volunteers for two water stops at the Donna Hicken Marathon, one staffed by Pak’s Karate Academy and the other by Amelia Island Runners. However, so many parents at Pak’s have volunteered that they will be able to staff both water stops. The marathon still needs many volunteers, so AIR will still be seeking volunteers for the event. Plans to promote walking, in addition to running, were discussed. Rosa asked about walkers walking in the dark once Daylight Saving Time ends. John stated that the Rec. Dept. is 100 percent in favor of partnering with AIR and promoting walking on Wednesdays. AIR will provide the route, distance, and water. NEW BUSINESS Ed received an email from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society stating that fund-raising entries are available for the Walt Disney World Marathon/Half Marathon. Jill Staples will not be available this year to be AIR team captain for the Katie Ride for Life. AIR needs someone from the club to spearhead a team.
