For the second year in a row, Amelia Island Runners' journalistic efforts have received national recognition.

AIR was honored that its newsletter, Runner's Hi, was selected as 2009 outstanding small club newsletter in the Road Runners Club of America's annual journalism competition. AIR president and newsletter editor Ed Hardee accepted the award April 24 at the RRCA's national convention in Lakeland.

The category is for running clubs with up to 499 members.

Club founder John McBrearty and Ed represented AIR at the convention, which included numerous seminars on running and running club issues. Speakers included famed elite runners Bill Rodgers and Keith Brantly.

Last year, AIR member Bill Pennington was named 2008 national club writer of the year by the RRCA.
